Now that my life is far from quite and things are busy at work I have been looking at the option to working out at home. At the moment I tend to only practice yoga at home and alternate that between my tri-weekly gym sessions, which seems to work perfectly.
Recently I have been slipping on days when I simply can’t make it to the gym because time isn’t on my side. However, I’m now pledging to make a conscious effort to fit in a workout at home on days when I can’t get to the gym. All you need is very basic equipment such as a chair, yoga mat, weights or even tinned beans to get a great workout at home.
Over the past few weeks I have found some great home workouts that are easily accessible on the web. Here are 10 of my top picks:
1. Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown Level 1
3. Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis Workout L1
4. Tara Stiles: Yoga Weight Loss & Balance Workout
5. Denise Austin: Kickboxing Cardio Fat Blast Workout
6. Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred: Level 1
7. 30-Minute Cardio – The CafeMom Studios Workout
8. Yoga for Runners – 25 min version
9. 30 Minute Aerobic Dance Workout with Deanne Berry
10. Fat Burning Cardio Workout – 37 Minute Fitness Blender Cardio
One of the key things that I have learnt during busy spells in my life is that when it comes to working out emphasis should be out on quality and not quantity. You can get an equally good workout in 20 minutes as you can in 60 minutes. This can be achieved by increasing your weights or by not taking breaks between sets.
In short, it’s great knowing that I am able to get a fabulous workout in the comfort of my own home and don’t have to stress about journeying the gym.
Do you like home workouts? What workout equipment of you have at home?
Have you tried any of the workouts listed above?

I agree, you can do loads from home! You don’t always just need to go to do the gym.
By the way the yoga for runners link isn’t right I think :-s
I agree. On the dausy I can’t make the gym in good time I go for a walk around town or do something at home. Blogilates is great, cassie definitely knows how to make you ache in just 10 minutes and she’s fun and her workouts are free. I also love mary helen bowers’ ballet beautiful. I bought the international bundle in January and her 60 minute clasic dvd is the only dvd I’ve ever stuck to. I highly recommend it. I think clips are on YT for anyone interested.
I don’t belong to a gym now so all my workouts are done from home other then my runs outdoors. I am quite lucky as I have lots of equipment due to being a personal trainer. I much prefer working out at home too, I can feel comfortable working out in my sports bra and shorts with no make up on and just focus on what I am doing without anyone getting in my way or having to wait for equipment to be free!
thank you for sharing these! i love finding fresh new ‘moves’ to incorporate into my routine! so happy i came across your blog!

I am awful at home workouts as I get so distracted by things- I will realise something needs tidying away so I will do that, then notice something else, and my mind won’t be on it. I have a dvd for when it is icy and I can’t run outside, but I hardly ever use it as I would rather go on a walk or something as I will actually do it!
Blogilates is brilliant, I like random yoga videos too. At the minute I am doing insanity workouts which are super tough.
