In my previous job there wasnβt really a traditional uniform as all that was stipulated was that we had to black, but we could accessorise with colour. Now in my latest job we have to wear business dress with no colour restrictions what so ever.
For me business dress is all about beautiful tailored lines and well-structured clothes, which for good quality clothing which can be on the more expensive side of things. It can also be hard with tailoring to gauge what actually suits your shape as some things will look really good on a curvy figure and not on a slighter frame, and vice versa.
Over the last few months I have discovered that business wear and tailored items can be affordable and in post I wanted to share my thoughts and ideas which I discuss in my vlog below.
Formal and ready for business:
Skinny waist belt (came with dress): Mango, blazer with elbow pads: Zara, 60 denier tights: House of Fraser, black courts: Pied et Terre, necklace: Swaroski, pearl stud earrings: Forever 21.
Middle of the road:
Waist belt: as before, 60 denier tights: as before, beige cardigan: Zara, red shoe boots: office, earrings: Forever 21.
Chilled and casual:
Waist belt: H&M, leggings: H&M, floral scarf: H&M, satin ballet pumps: Mimco, pearl stud earrings: Forever 21, PEACE bracelet: Topshop, beaded bracelet: Lola Rose.
So just to recap my top tips for shopping for business wear and tailoring are:
1. Shop the sales
2. Know your body shape and buy staple pieces
3. ACCESSORISE!
I hope you enjoyed this vlog and found it helpful. It is difficult shopping for business wear but I think once you know what suits your shape it is pretty much plane sailing from there and you can get so many different looks from your staple pieces just by experimenting with accessories.
