[EPISODE 3] Dealing with emotional overwhelm
Well, I think we can all say that the past 12 months have been a ride. Things have felt heavy, we’ve been pushed to our limits and stretched beyond belief. Perhaps during this time not only have you felt physically overwhelmed, but your emotions have got the better of you too. Now there can be many different reasons why you may be suffering from emotional overwhelm, however, over the last 12-months there may have been lots of little different things bubbling unknowingly under the surface. A bit like a pressure cooker they’ve been simmering away and all of a sudden they just erupt out of no-where. Now, us mums have lots to juggle on the daily, throw a pandemic into the mix too, it’s no wonder that we’re all feeling fraught and at our wit’s end. Your feelings are valid without a doubt, but you may be finding that things that wouldn’t typically bother you have been grinding your gears more than usual and have you reacting in ways that potentially don’t feel like *you*. I’ve been teetering on the edge for the past few months and often found myself snapping unnecessarily simply because things have just felt a bit too much at times. Because at some point, you’ve probably been in the same boat navigating these choppy waters I wanted to share with you some tips on how to deal with emotional overwhelm. In this episode I dive into:
- Key signs to look out for if your emotions are getting the better of you
- The impact of multiple external stressors
- The consequences of emotional overwhelm
- How we can embrace neuroplasticity to rewire the brain
- Powerful tools to bring in more calm when your feeling overwhelmed
