How to Have an Environmentally Friendly Picnic

In collaboration with Good Hemp.

We love our picnics in the summer and you will often find us packing up the car at the weekend with a picnic hamper filled with delicious food.  A long car drive and an adventure at one of the many beautiful country parks or National Trust locations near us is made even more perfect with a family fun-filled picnic.

Over the last few years, and especially since becoming a parent, I’ve become more conscious about protecting our environment. I’ve addressed certain areas in my life, such as switching to some more natural beauty products and looking at the cleaning products that I use around the house. Also, a brand that I love, Good Hemp has made me aware that they are celebrating sustainable food brands. that do home deliveries to make sustainable grocery shopping extra easy.

You can check out their recent article on their sustainable food guide to find out more to help you live in a more environmentally way when it comes to your food choices.

I’m sharing 3 top tips to help you make your picnics more sustainable so that you can enjoy the wonderful joy and charm of a picnic but with less impact on the environment.

Make sustainable food choices

Selecting all of your beautiful sandwiches and snacks for your picnic to be healthier and more sustainable has never been easier with so many great choices around that also take into account the impact of their packaging on the environment.

Check Out Your Local Sustainable Food Supplies

Head on down to your local markets and check out their choice of cheeses, meats, fruit, and baked goods to pack for your picnic. You can even get sustainable food delivered for more ease and convenience.

Leave the Plastic Cutlery at Home

Single-use plastic cutlery may seem like a great and convenient idea, however, why not replace them with wooden cutlery or use some from home for less waste.

Use Reusable Refillable Bottles

Shockingly, Brits throw away 7.7 billion single-use plastic bottles every year.  To help reduce this figure, try to source a range of sustainable products so that you can stay hydrated on the go, but still be friendly to the environment. Refillable water bottles are fantastic as they can be used over and over again.a

How have you tried to make your picnics more sustainable and environmentally friendly?
